Why are Stockholm CC organising this?

There are two reasons why we are organising the Street Cricket activities in Kista.

Firstly, to provide children the chance to try playing cricket and be active. It may encourage interest in the sport, thereby attracting new players to our club. But it will stop children being in front of their mobile phone or TV for an hour or 2.

Secondly, it is important that cricket takes a place in society.  Having a structured Street Cricket activity in Kista makes it visible so people know that the sport exists. I

How do I register?

Simply you don't. There is no registration of people want to attend or have attended.

We have a WhatsApp group for children, parents and leaders to share information. For example, it can be used by participants to communicate and plan what they want to do in the next Street Cricket session. This is optional and you do not have to join the group if you do not want.

What do you mean by "play cricket on their terms"?

When we say that the children will play according to their terms,  we mean that they should decide the structure and format of the games they want to play.

It is our philosophy that by empowering children in this manner it will help them develop their creativity and decision making skills. It will also develop their leadership skills, teaching them to communciate and find solutions that are good for the whole group.  Plus it is more fun not being told what to do by an adult.

What equipment do I need to bring?

The Stockholm CC will provide equipment so that games of cricket can be played.  You do not need to bring any of your own equipment but you are welcome to do so if you want.

Though we will provide plastic bats and soft balls so that no saftey equipment (helmets, pads, gloves and abdo guard) is needed, people need to play sensibly and with care in order to avaoid injury. We will set appropriate ground rules to minimise the risk of injury, such as keeping a minimum distance from the bat.
